House takes up electric rate jump

From the Belleville News "Republican". It is about time... My Question is "Why is Emil Jones (D-14) blocking action?" When a Democrat does stupid crap like this - it hurts us all...

Who is Funding Al Qaeda Anyway?

Doh! The Bush administration apparently... From the article:

"We are simply in a situation where this president is really taking his notion of executive privilege to the absolute limit here, running covert operations, using money that was not authorized by Congress, supporting groups indirectly that are involved with the same people that did 9/11, and we should be arresting these people rather than looking the other way"

Of course, this is not surprising since they are actually taking campaign contributions directly from people linked with terrorism:

"The National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) and the Republican Congressmen they've helped to elect are still resisting calls to give back or donate to charity the money they received from an alleged terrorist financier."

You could not make this stuff up....

Fox Smear Campaign Against Obama

Sen. Obama has said no to all interviews to Fox "News". Now there is a petition to encourage the Nevada Democrats to not team with Fox to host a presidential primary debate. You can sign it here.

Stupid Letter of the Week

It is only Wednesday, but I am going to go ahead and pick a winner. This week the stupid letter of the week goes to Russell C. Fette from Collinsville. It seems that Mr. Fette still thinks Iraq and Saddam Hussein had something to do with Al Qaeda. Of course, we know this was all just a load of crap made up by the Bush administration to drag us to war with Iraq. Even if Fette got all of his news from Fox, he would know better then this to believe this crap. He must be in a coma. And by the way Russ - the web site is www.bushlies.com.

McCoy is Nuts

After Bush spent most of this week trying to convince us the fake evidence they are ginning up to go to war with Iran is real, we get this lunatic fringe cartoon from our own Glenn McCoy. How stupid can he be??? Glenn is willing to buy the same crap that got us mired down in Iraq? I guess so. I thought the most absurd part of this whole "war on Iran" sales job was the fake press conference they had in Iraq to make the case. At this "press conference" the government "officials" did not even identify themselves and would not allow any pictures or recordings. But they showed all the evidence they needed to connect the Iranian Government right back to the deaths of our troops:

"The officials , who refused to be identified at the press conference, said the Iranian-supplied munitions had killed more than 170 coalition troops and wounded more than 620 others."

One can only conclude that the Bush administration has some kind of blood lust for war, and Glenn is their cheerleader.

Stupid Letter of the Week

It is hard to choose the best stupid letter of the week, since the Belleville News "Republican" seems to pick some some real gems. Today Mr. Rains from Collinsville makes a case for less Government and free market forces to fix the rate increase problems.

Huh?? The rates went up because the Government failed to renew the rate regulations. As far as free markets fixing this, I wonder how he intends to shop around for power? I think he has spent a tad too much time listening to Rush Limbaugh's drug addled talking points...

Australian Prime Minister Pokes Obama

Australian leader: Al-Qaida wants Obama This is one of my pet peeves when the Republicans do it, and it is an outrage when a foreign leader that is supposed to be our ally does the same thing - he says that the evil terrorists love Barack Obama. The cool thing about this was Sen. Obama, showing a Democrat can have a spine, slammed the aussie PM:

"If Prime Minister Howard truly believes what he says, perhaps his country should find its way to contribute more than just 1,400 troops so some American troops can come home," he said. "It's easy to talk tough when it's not your country or your troops making the sacrifices."

Nice! I have said (and will continue to say) that if you war mongering Republicans love the war so much, volunteer, and get your butt over there.

Shimkus Rides for Free

Rep. Pelosi has been taking a lot of heat (for no reason) from the right wing nut jobs (along with the pentagon) about her wanting to be able to fly non-stop to California on military aircraft. It was actually Denny Hastert that was the one that got that pushed through after 9/11 for "security". In fact, he used his own military aircraft to fly Rep. Shimkus back to DC for the big page scandal Shimkus did not perform any oversight on. More information on this is available over on Thinkprogress.

Stupid Letter of the Month

While reading the Sunday edition if the Belleville News "Republican" today, I became inspired. Yes, inspired to add a new feature to the Blog called "Stupid Letter of the Month". If you read the Letters section of of our award winning local paper, you have, no doubt been subjected to some of the most idiotic letters ever put to paper. Each week, I intend to highlight the most moronic letter of the week on the pages of this blog, and at the end of the month, let you, the reader vote on the "Most Mornic Letter of the Month" (MMLM). Today's feature is a gem crafted by Ms. Joan Cobb from Nashville IL.

Apparently, the Democrats have been able to turn our country in to a Socialist dictatorship in less then a month (actually less then about 40 hours if you only count the time our legislature shows up for work). The evil "liberals" are hard at work to try and keep the electorate "uninformed". I have a hard time trying to believe Ms. Cobb could get more uninformed, but I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, so I looked into it a bit more. Her big gripe is a new bill, Senate Bill 1. It looks like the right wing nut jobs are most concerned about section 220, which includes new regulations on what they are calling "grassroots lobbying". What the bill does is categorize paid efforts to stimulate "grassroots lobbying" as lobbying, which is what it is. The large (right wing nut job) Christian organizations would now be classified as lobbyists for doing things like paying bloggers to spew political garbage. It does nothing to stop an individual (an independent blogger like me) from saying whatever the hell they want. Nevertheless, the Christian taliban have spun up their base over this, because when they pay their bloggers to send people like Joan Cobb into a tailspin over this "stifling of her free speech" she grabs a pen and gets into action, and of course, never bothers to actually read the bill. Many of the right wing Christain taliban groups are frantically organizing web petitions to stop S.B. 1. On the Focus on the Family petition, I found this particularly rich nugget:

So for this, Ms. Cobb has earned the title of stupidest letter of the week. Stay tuned for next weeks letter, and be sure to vote on the monthly winner!

Has Cheney Ever Been Under Oath??

I know he was not when he testified on the 9/11 commision. If he lies at the "Scooter" trial we might be able to throw the rat out of office. Since everything he says is a lie, I would say it is a pretty safe bet that he will perjure himself...
