Stupid Letter of the Month

While reading the Sunday edition if the Belleville News "Republican" today, I became inspired. Yes, inspired to add a new feature to the Blog called "Stupid Letter of the Month". If you read the Letters section of of our award winning local paper, you have, no doubt been subjected to some of the most idiotic letters ever put to paper. Each week, I intend to highlight the most moronic letter of the week on the pages of this blog, and at the end of the month, let you, the reader vote on the "Most Mornic Letter of the Month" (MMLM). Today's feature is a gem crafted by Ms. Joan Cobb from Nashville IL.

Apparently, the Democrats have been able to turn our country in to a Socialist dictatorship in less then a month (actually less then about 40 hours if you only count the time our legislature shows up for work). The evil "liberals" are hard at work to try and keep the electorate "uninformed". I have a hard time trying to believe Ms. Cobb could get more uninformed, but I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, so I looked into it a bit more. Her big gripe is a new bill, Senate Bill 1. It looks like the right wing nut jobs are most concerned about section 220, which includes new regulations on what they are calling "grassroots lobbying". What the bill does is categorize paid efforts to stimulate "grassroots lobbying" as lobbying, which is what it is. The large (right wing nut job) Christian organizations would now be classified as lobbyists for doing things like paying bloggers to spew political garbage. It does nothing to stop an individual (an independent blogger like me) from saying whatever the hell they want. Nevertheless, the Christian taliban have spun up their base over this, because when they pay their bloggers to send people like Joan Cobb into a tailspin over this "stifling of her free speech" she grabs a pen and gets into action, and of course, never bothers to actually read the bill. Many of the right wing Christain taliban groups are frantically organizing web petitions to stop S.B. 1. On the Focus on the Family petition, I found this particularly rich nugget:

So for this, Ms. Cobb has earned the title of stupidest letter of the week. Stay tuned for next weeks letter, and be sure to vote on the monthly winner!
